ELICITING !!!!

eliciting is more than showing pictures or asking questions, it is a technique that allows teachers to get students' previuos knowledge, and can be used through all the learning session.

there are a few things that we have to have account in order to acomplish  its real purpose:

1. Whatever you use to get information from students is eliciting, that means that we can use this technique not only with pictures, but gestures, mimes, realia, etc. just make sure that when you ask, the answer must come from students.

2. We have to know exactly what we want to get, in other words, questions  must be planned. as we are performing it, we have to go then naturally in conversation with students.  

3. Eliciting is mostly used to get information from students, that information could be in english or spanish, true or false, real or fake; we have to keep in mind that eliciting can also be used to get our students to guess or imagine.

4. Finally, i would say, if there is an activity we perform very often in class, "That is eliciting", so  you better start to get involved and find strategies to do it each time accurately.
